Columbus Colony for Elderly Care The Executive Director is responsible for managing, directing, facilitating, supporting and coordinating all activities of the community ensuring that marketing, occupancy, quality of care, hospitality, strategy, financial and human resource objectives are achieved, while maintaining compliance with all local, State and Federal laws and regulations, and United Church Homes, Inc. policies.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Performs duties in managing business related activities that achieve UCH's vision-mission-values and supporting strategies, and assists in promoting the community in a manner that encourages ethical and high-quality health care, hospitality and resident services
- Facilitates the marketing and admission processes, reviews census, and supports sales / marketing efforts
- Reviews and signs records and documentation, as required and authorized
- Represents the community in external communications, public relations, and marketing activities
- Reviews accounts receivable and assists in timely funds collection
- Completes forms, reports, and other documents, including State licensure reports, monthly financial reports, licensure surveys, plans of correction, responses to Central Office requests, and replies to residents' council, and others as required
- Initiates and monitors community procedures / systems / processes consistent with business requirements
- Provides community related data / information that is responsive to business needs
- Directs the preparations for licensure and certification surveys
- Provides direction for delivering high quality health care services which meet or exceed the community standards of care
- Provides input in the development of community operating budget and demonstrates effective financial stewardship in achieving plan
- Listens to family members' questions and concerns and resolves issues
- Completes community walk-throughs to assess resident and family satisfaction, and to address complaints or other issues;
Refers complaints and issues to appropriate department head or other team members, and follows up, as required
- Provides leadership for the recruitment, on-boarding and orientation of new employees
- Initiates annual goal setting and performance management activities with leadership team members
- Recommends development and advancement opportunities and compensation for employees as merited, recognizing and rewarding initiative, innovation, customer service and goal achievement
- Provides opportunities for staff employee training on safe work practices and periodic reviews of work activities, materials and facilities to minimize potential hazards and loss incidents

- Serves as liaison in the communication of organizational objectives and initiatives to stakeholder groups including but not limited to : Resident's Council, Board(s), or external constituents.
Receives, investigates and responds to resident, family and employee complaints and grievances
- Maintains effective communication with residents, family members, employees and other key stakeholders
- Ensures all memory support services are provided in conformance with established dementia care protocols
- Establishes and achieves operating and strategic performance goals and accountability for individual team member and enterprise performance
- Acts as a liaison with Advancement to support donor cultivation, fund-raising, and other programs of engagement
- Represents the community at a variety of local, civic, and church related activities
- Participates in scheduled corporate leadership training, outreach, and other public events
- Participates in all mandatory in-service training and required meetings
- Performs all other duties as assigned, or directed

Skills & Abilities
- Education : Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study : Business, Hospitality or Health Management
- Master's Degree Preferred, Field of Study : Business, Hospitality or Health Management
- Experience : 5 plus years of experience in Five (5) or more years of relevant professional experience required.
- Certifications & Licenses : Current State of Ohio Nursing Home Administrators license preferred; Must obtain and maintain mandatory State and Federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation;
Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Other Requirements : Familiarity with Life Plan communities, hospitality services, long-term care and health care services delivery required;
- Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language; Must be able to work with residents, resident families, staff, visitors, vendors, corporate staff, surveyors, and inspectors;
- Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook; Must be accessible at all other times when not present at the community;
Must successfully complete at least twenty (20) hours of continuing education annually
