A well-established boutique law firm in Chicago, recognized nationally for its private client services, is seeking a Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join its team. The firm focuses on areas such as Business & Corporate Law, Trusts & Estates, Taxation, Real Estate, Non-profits, and more. Clients primarily include high-net-worth individuals, families, and privately held companies.

The right candidate will assist attorneys in all stages of estate planning and probate processes, with a strong understanding of court procedures and legal protocols. Responsibilities include drafting estate planning documents, handling probate administration, and conducting legal research. The ideal paralegal is highly organized, detail-oriented, professional, and an excellent communicator.

Key Responsibilities

Draft estate planning and probate documents

Manage and organize estate and probate files

Form business entities

Conduct legal research relevant to estate planning and probate

Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other professionals

Prepare and file legal documents with courts

Maintain databases and tracking systems

Ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner

Follow up with clients on required paperwork and signatures

Assist attorneys with additional assignments as needed

Skills & Abilities

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

High level of professionalism, discretion, and tact

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Flexibility to work beyond standard hours during peak periods

Requirements

2+ years of experience as a paralegal in estate planning or probate (required)

Knowledge of probate court procedures and rules

Strong research and drafting skills

Paralegal certification or degree in legal studies (preferred)

Position Details

Title : Estate Planning & Probate Paralegal

Employment Type : Full-time

Work Environment : Primarily office-based with hybrid flexibility after an initial training period

Reporting : Directly to supervising attorneys
