Major / Essential Functions

Work with faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and all its pursuits, following all institutional and School of Medicine policies and procedures.

Provide mentoring to other department faculty in education, research and clinical care.

Assist with maintaining a high quality program including efficient referrals and management thereof.

Encourage and support the research efforts of the campus as related to the department

Comply with requirements of accreditation agencies relative to the educational mission of the department

Collaborate and develop positive working relationships with community physicians, community leaders, partners on this campus and other campuses of TTUHSC.

Teach residents and medical students in the field of Psychiatry

Provide clinical services to out-patient and in-patient populations, including child, adolescent, geriatric, substance abuse, and consultation-liaison services.

Prescribe, direct, or administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.

Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals.

Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.

Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.

Analyze and evaluate patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder.
