JOB SUMMARY : Under the supervision of the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be a dynamic resource to accounting staff, is responsible for all general accounting functions, and is accountable for meeting all financial reporting deadlines set by the Controller and VP of Finance.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES : Completes monthly closing procedures.Assists with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances.
Prepares journal entries.Prepares balance sheet reconciliations.Processes payroll for all employees.Performs payroll administration and maintenance of records.
Prepares and submit quarterly payroll reports.Assists with preparing various reports for internal and external users.Assists with the external audit.
Prepares trial balance account reviews, account reconciliations, and reports on findings to the Controller.
Investigates and proposes adjustments to budgets and billings.Reviews program and department budgets and reports on spending trends, opportunities for cost savings, strategic sourcing, and related financial management improvements.
Prepares monthly journal entries for drug inventory, engineering, and supply chain inventory.Maintains reconciliation of specific drugs charges compared to billings.
Closes revenue subsystems for all support services, research, and foundation monthly : Includes running reports and preparing journal entries to record the revenue in the general ledger system;
reconciling accounts as assigned on a monthly basis; assisting with reviewing and posting Accounts Payable batches; performing ad hoc analysis as needed.
Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.Other duties and projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY : None EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION : Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA license or Masters of Accountancy - Preferred EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES : 3+ years accounting / finance experience.
2 years public accounting experience preferred.Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with Oracle or other similar accounting software.Not-for profit and health industry experience a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience working with complex spreadsheets and pivot tables.
Strong analytical and accounting skills.Ability to meet assigned deadlines.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction.Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS : Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
