Estimator

We areseeking a responsible and skilled Estimator for a well construction company inBakersfield, CA. The primary function of this role is to provide accurate,timely, and complete estimates for civil work prime contracts with publicagencies and private work with focus on grading, paving, cold planning,Striping and Signage and miscellaneous.

Schedule : Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Pay Rate : $30.00-$35.00 / HR (Depending on Experience)

EssentialDuties & Responsibilities

• Leadand mentor junior Estimators
• Ableto accurately prepare timely estimates, including labor, equipment, materials,and subcontractors
• Coordinatequantity take-off with take-off department, highlight job specifics includingphasing, details, jobsite conditions, etc.
• Reviewjob specifications, drawings, schedules, soil reports and other documents toprepare accurate scope and pricing
• Abilityto discuss and negotiate scope, pricing, inclusions, and exclusions with generalcontractors and owners

• Previousconstruction management experience
• Previousestimating experience (ideally with concrete / Asphalt)

• Abilityto establish and maintain client relations
• Provenproblem-solving abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strongwork ethic, team player, ability to work with minimal supervision
• Abilityto plan, organize, and control all established Bid processes
• Itemizeand quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages includingsub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
• Managetake off process, delegate to team as appropriate
• PrepareRFI’s
• Performbudget pricing from conceptual design with alternatives
• Determineand price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specs
• DeterminesProject Estimated Value for projects and identify ways to achieve at a profit.(Opportunities in the Project)
• Selectsquotes to use from Subcontractors and Vendors. Develop detail scope and Bill ofMaterials for Vendor and Subcontractor Packages
• DevelopBudgets
• Responsiblefor Scope Letter : Provide content for and in some cases create the scope letter
• DevelopContents and input into Bid Forms (Prime Bid)
• FinalReview of Electronic Bidding System for Accuracy and completeness
• ReviewsEstimate Turnover packages prior to being sent to Owner
• Priorto issuing of formal bid package, provide the Owner a detailed review of Scope,technical requirements, and pricing of the estimated bid package
• Ensureall Bid Files are complete for bid close out
• SubmitFinal Bids to Client, work with them on Questions
• Projectinterviews and Presentations
• Aftersuccessful bid (win), meet with the project team to explain estimate, scope, quotesfor successful transition
• Implementmeasures to increase efficiency
• Reviewand understand thoroughly the plans and specifications for each Bid Project assigned
• Workthrough others on the Bid Team to complete bid process from start to finish
• Developjunior estimators into future leaders
