California Licensed Lead Counsel

A company is looking for a Lead Counsel, Engineering & Product.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the core legal partner to engineering, product, and data science teams throughout the product development lifecycle

Provide guidance on intellectual property issues, including patent and licensing strategy, and ensure compliance with software and AI model usage

Collaborate with privacy teams to ensure compliance with data privacy laws and assist in drafting internal policies related to AI and technology

Required Qualifications

J.D. Degree from an accredited law school and active membership in a U.S. state bar

Minimum of 12+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally with a blend of in-house and technology-focused law firm roles

Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or significant professional experience in software development, AI / ML, and SaaS platforms

Experience in counseling on intellectual property and contract issues specific to technology, particularly open source and AI

Experience as a SaaS product counsel or extensive commercial contracting expertise with a solid understanding of data governance
