The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for an Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician with Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Naples, Florida.
The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician performs duties related to the perioperative process and anticipates case needs of patients, surgeons, and department staff.
An employee in this position prepares and maintains sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment, and adheres to strict techniques and standard precautions.
Moreover, the OR Instrument Sterilization Technician practices ethical and conscientious behavior regarding sterility.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS :
Serves as a resource person for personnel that is new to the specialty area.
Recommends change or revises specialty trays and instrument lists.
Monitors inventory and stocks operating rooms, efficiently and effectively.
Prepares specialty trays. Identifies, removes, and reports hazardous or defective instrumentation immediately.
Inspects all items for integrity and proper sterilization prior to use.
Monitors incoming consignment instruments, implants, and physician specific instrumentation.
Validates tray contents, after terminal cleaning, to ensure completeness.
Indicates or assists with activities related to room turnover.
Attends departmental and unit-based meetings and maintains effective work relationships with physicians, sales representatives, peers, and co-workers.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certification and Licensing :
Certification in relevant specialty or field required
Experience :
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
