REPORTS TO : Senior Director of Related Services Department or their designee
STIPEND POSITION OVERVIEW : The Office of Specialized Services (OSS) seeks a current BPS Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) with extensive feeding and swallowing experience to complete individual student feeding consultations.
The SLP will need to be familiar with BPS related services feeding and swallowing guidelines, current dysphagia research and best practices, student diet orders and restrictions, student specific meal time guides, adaptive equipment / seating, and have current CPR certification.
This is an in-person opportunity that will primarily occur during the five weeks of extended school year (ESY) (7 / 8 / 24-8 / 9 / 24).
It’s anticipated the position will take 5 to 10 hours of work a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
As part of the stipend opportunity, the feeding and swallowing consultant will be required to :
- Complete record review for the student (including contacting any necessary medical personnel).
- Complete observation of the student within the ESY classroom (if necessary).
- Work directly with the ESY educational team to ensure understanding and execution of feeding safety plans.
- Complete all the corresponding consultation paperwork as outlined in the BPS Feeding and Swallowing consultation framework.
- Upload work to the related services drive (feeding and swallowing folder)
- Keep a list of students that will need follow up in September.
The stipend will be paid per student at the hourly rate of $56.81 once each student has completed the responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED :
- Currently working in Boston Public Schools;
- Experience completing the BPS feeding and swallowing consultation process
- Appropriate licensure for administering assessment.
