Position Summary :

The position conducts thorough investigations pertaining to the regulation of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and tobacco products using generally accepted and legally sanctioned investigative techniques.

Works with underage cooperating individuals (UCIs) to conduct controlled buy investigations. Creates comprehensive / understandable reports and researches databases using electronic equipment provided.

Enters and monitors cases through the state or federal systems. Long hours driving are required in order to complete assignments within the inspector's territory.

Official duty station will be the inspector's home. Information deemed confidential will not be disseminated. Some overnight travel is required.

Must pass KBI check, fingerprint check, credit check and childcare check. This position is not a law enforcement position.

Qualifications :

Education : High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications : One year investigating, fact finding or enforcing state or federal laws and regulations. Education in communications, psychology, social work, public or business administration, criminal justice or law may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Special Requirements : Must pass background check with the FDA every 5 years.

Preferred Experience : Ability to apply guidelines to individual situations. Ability to deal with people in an impartial manner.

Ability to plan and prioritize work, good written and oral communication skills, and establishment of a good working relationship with industry.

Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Preferred Skills : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, proofreading, editing, and attention to detail.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : KBI and FBI fingerprint required due to access to Federal Tax Information files in KDOR systems and due to the position which may come into contact with sensitive Criminal History Record Information.
