Position Summary :
The Director of Finance is responsible for the overall financial management, business planning, and budgeting of the organization.
This role requires strategic thinking and hands-on leadership to manage the financial operations, ensure long-term financial stability, and support the company’s growth objectives.
The Director of Finance will collaborate closely with senior management and play a key role in driving the financial strategy of the organization.
Key Responsibilities :
- Financial Strategy and Planning :
- Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy to support its business goals and growth objectives.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including long-term financial planning and forecasting.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, President and the executive team to guide decision-making.
- Assess and manage financial risks and opportunities for the company.
- Financial Management :
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP / IFRS.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying trends and making recommendations for improvement.
- Manage the company’s capital structure, including equity, and cash management.
- Business Analysis and Reporting :
- Analyze financial data to identify key drivers of business performance and areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports to the CEO, President, and other stakeholders.
- Lead financial modeling and analysis for new business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic opportunities.
- Compliance and Risk Management :
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits and financial reviews.
- Leadership and Team Development :
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Provide direction and support to ensure the team’s success in meeting departmental and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to develop financial literacy across the organization.
- Cost Management and Efficiency :
- Identify opportunities to optimize costs and improve efficiency across the organization.
- Implement financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance operational efficiency and support the company’s growth.
- Evaluate and manage vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree in finance is preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Experience in a similar industry is a plus.
- Certifications : CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or similar financial certifications are highly desirable.
- Technical Skills : Strong proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills. Experience with financial modeling and analysis tools is essential.
- Leadership Skills : Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams. Ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve organizational goals.
Ability to manage the outsourced vendors.
- Strategic Thinking : Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Communication Skills : Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ethical Standards : High level of integrity and commitment to ethical financial management. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
- Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes.
Working Conditions :
- Work Environment : Office setting with occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., budgeting cycles, year-end close).
- Travel : Very limited.
