Job Description

SUMMARY

The Driver is responsible for the delivery of merchandise to Customers within expected time parameters.

RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Transportation Manager, interacts with staff from other business units as well as departmental peers, and delivers to local customers on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Delivers merchandise according to pre-determined route
• Unloads correct merchandise and checks order, noting any corrections
• Completes all assigned reports and paperwork at the end of day
• Communicates with Manager any system or documentation problems identified
• Picks-up returned merchandise per return authorization
• Complies with all DOT regulations
• Performs safety and housekeeping duties as they pertain to Edward Don & Company and OSHA standards
• Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing to customers and all levels of staff
• Performs other duties as assigned

External Qualifications

Required minimum knowledge, skills, education / training, experience, and physical obligations :

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
• Minimum of 1 year Commercial Driving experience
• Must maintain a current DOT required Medical Certification at all times
• Ability to bend, stoop, climb, twist, stand, and lift between 60-100 lbs while loading and unloading delivery truck at each stop (15-30 stops per day)
• Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time
• Must have a Class A CDL with a good driving record
• Ability to maintain a good driving record while employed
• Ability to comply with all DOT regulations as required
