Job Description :
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate School-Based Occupational Therapist to provide specialized services to students with diverse needs near Cordova, MD.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in an educational setting, a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles, and a commitment to helping students achieve their maximum potential.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct evaluations to assess students fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing abilities, and overall functional performance.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and occupational therapy goals tailored to each student's needs.
- Provide direct therapy services, including one-on-one and small group sessions, to support students in achieving their functional and educational goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate therapeutic strategies into the classroom environment and daily routines.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Provide training and support to teachers and parents on strategies to enhance students independence and participation in school activities.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions, student progress, and communication with families.
- Stay current with advancements in occupational therapy and participate in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current Delaware State License in Occupational Therapy.
- Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
- Experience working with children in a school or pediatric setting is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical skills with knowledge of evidence-based practices in occupational therapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, families, and school staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team within an educational setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
