About the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Chemistry & Biochemistry has vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs, with 420 undergraduate majors and 190 graduate students, and an extensive research portfolio.

Approximately 2 / 3 of our undergraduate body is Biochemistry majors. We take pride in both our high-quality instruction and attention to student advisement.

Our faculty, staff, and students participate in a range of dynamic and collaborative research programs and enjoy modern facilities located on a pleasant urban campus in the City of Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary

The School of Chemistry and Biochemistry ( https : / / chemistry.gatech.edu / ) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track, faculty position in the Academic Professional promotion track, with teaching responsibilities in Biochemistry .

Applicants will be considered at both the Academic Professional and Senior Academic Professional ranks, depending on experience.

A start date on or after July 1st, 2025, is anticipated. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Applicants with an interest in evidence-based instructional methods and chemical education research are encouraged.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will teach undergraduate lecture and seminar classes in Biochemistry and conduct administrative activities including academic advisement of undergraduate students.

A maximum teaching load of two 3-credit classes in both the Fall and Spring semesters, and one 3-credit class in the summer is expected.

The applicant will collaborate with other faculty on curricula development.

Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Non-tenure Track Academic Faculty ranks as outlined in section 3.

Academic Professional

  • Terminal degree in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or related area
  • Significant related experience or promotion from the rank of Associate Academic Professional
  • Quality of performance and potential development must be recognized by peers.

Senior Academic Professional

  • Terminal degree in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or related area
  • Evidence of superior performance in the chosen field
  • Recognition by peers (whether national, regional, or local)
  • Successful and measurable related experience
  • Five (5) years or more as an Academic Professional

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ability to teach and mentor a distinct student body.
  • The ability to engage in high-impact practices that support high-level learning for student success.
