ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE
The Dental Assistant works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by providing support dental care services in our Dental Clinics.
This role will establish dental hygiene protocols and procedures to ensure a positive patient experience. In addition, this role will educate patients on preventive dental health and techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Takes impressions for diagnostic and opposing models
- Removes post extraction and periodontal dressings
- Places and removes rubber dams
- Cures restorative or orthodontic materials in operative site with light-curing device
- Performs all supportive dental procedures allowable under the supervision of the Dentist (fourhanded dentistry), including endodontic procedures
- Imparts preventive health education information and techniques to patients
- Contributes to the success of Neighborhood by participating in quality improvements activities
- Serves as a contact between Neighborhood and the community, including participation in community preventative health education activities, as needed
- Researches and promotes internal / external organizational activities
- Impacts patient experience by demonstrating values of transforming care, including courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
- Works with care teams to ensure overall positive patient health outcomes
- Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma / GED required
- One year dental assistant or related experience preferred
- Dental Assistant and Radiation Safety certifications required
- Valid BLS certificate required
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) or (English / Arabic) preferred
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Knowledge and understanding of dental terminology
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledgeable about and experience with full scope dentistry procedures and oral radiographic services, known as six handed dentistry
- Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Applications, eCW, and Sidexis
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent planning and organizational ability
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner

Pay Range : $21.75 - $26.25 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
