Lead Platform Engineer

We are seeking Platform Engineers who are passionate about creating and supporting DevOps tools with emerging technologies to join our team.

As a Lead Platform Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

General Responsibilities :

• Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve platform engineering practices and proactively identify risks and execute strategies that eliminate or mitigate those risks
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of your platform solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity
• Directly and indirectly lead a teams of engineers and people leaders to build strategy for each platform and drive being Well Managed, the core goal at Capital One
• Utilize scripting languages like Python, Bash, and others.
• Container Orchestration services including Docker and ECS, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services .
• Attack complex business opportunities by working with LOB stakeholders, leadership and your teams
• Collaborate on bigger initiatives to represent their impacts on your platforms and guide decision makers
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and best practices.

Basic Qualifications :

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
• At least 6 years of experience with building and managing infrastructure in AWS,GCP

Preferred Qualifications :

• 6+ years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)
• 4 + years of experience in scripting (Powershell, Python, Bash)
• 4+ years of experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Cloudformation, CDK, or others.
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering
• 1+ year of experience in the financial or tech industry
• 5+ years of experience managing relationships with Business or Product stakeholders, architects and external partners
• 4+ years experience with managing and administering Linux
• 3+ years experience with MySQL or similar DB frameworks
• 4+ years of experience leading a team within an agile environment
• 2+ years of experience with Confluence administration.
• 4+ years of experience with platform selection and implementation at the enterprise level

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site) : $163,300 - $186,400 for Lead Platform Engineer

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and / or long term incentives (LTI).

Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
