- Proficiency in writing routine business letters, evaluations, or records following standard procedures.- Skill in proofreading medical reports and recognizing errors.
- Capability to recognize when medical records information is missing.- Ability to gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.
Job Description : Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.- Organize medical reports for file placement and ensure all necessary reports and signatures are present.
- Prepare charts for new admissions and fill out necessary forms.- Prepare requests for specific reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports, including daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay.
- File reports into health information records, record data in logs, and file and retrieve health information records from filing systems.
- Provide information from health information records after determining the appropriateness of the request.- Coordinate with other departments concerning health information record procedures.
- Adhere to regulations governing medical record-keeping and confidentiality of patient information.- Use a typewriter, word processor, or calculator as needed.
