What We're Looking For

We are seeking an amazing front-end developer who is excited to join a small, early-stage team where they can be a critical part of designing and building our client and stylist facing products.

In addition to being a great engineer, we want someone who loves creating products that delight users!

What You'll Do

• Own, innovate and build great customer experiences across our client and stylist facing interfaces (website, mobile, texting, email, etc.).
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and business teams to understand needs, propose solutions, and deliver final projects.
• Improve our infrastructure services / components to achieve greater scalability, performance.
• Measure and optimize performance of pages.
• Write unit / integration tests, and document your work.
• You'll be in a key position in the early stage of our data science and machine learning initiative.
• Exercise your passion to craft experiences that delight users.
• Iterate and ship quickly.
• Teach and learn inside and outside of engineering.
• Opportunities to delve into back-end and data science if that excites you.

What We'd Like to See in You

• 5+ years development experience, with advanced level knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5.
• Excellent knowledge of jQuery, SASS, Twitter Bootstrap.
• Great feel for UI / UX experience.
• Awareness of cross-browser and cross-device compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations.
• Experience using web build tools, such as Gulp.
• Experience with unit / integration testing.
• Great understanding of performance trade-offs.
• Write efficient, secure, scalable code that is highly reusable, maintainable, and self-documenting.
• Deep interest in learning both the theoretical and practical aspects of working with and deriving insights from data.
• Self-driven, independent personality with amazing ability to get stuff done.
• Comfortable transforming loose requirements into deliverable solutions.
• Love solving problems in creative and new ways.
• Comfortable working fast and adapting to changing needs.
• Strong desire to build products that make users happy.
• Great team player with excellent communication skills.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.

And for Bonus Points...

• Knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as as Gimp, Pixelmator, or Photoshop is a plus.
• Experience developing Python / Django applications will be awesome!
• MySQL.
• Great visual aesthetic.
• Mobile experience (iOS or Android) would be cool. We'll be creating applications for clients and stylists.
