The Deputy Editor of Newsletters is responsible for managing programming across suite of e-mail newsletters. In addition to day-to-day responsibilities for curating, editing, and producing various newsletters, the Deputy Editor of Newsletters takes a broad strategic view to editorial planning, audience engagement, and subscriber conversion, developing strategies and best practices to insure our newsletters deliver on our goals.

The successful candidate will possess excellent writing, editing, curatorial, and production skills; a track record of developing editorial and audience engagement strategies;

both tactical and high-level expertise in newsletter strategy; and a deep fluency in the issues regularly covered by . Experience working with a consumer brand focussed on subscriber conversion and retention is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities :

Manages content programming across s suite of newsletters, with the goal of delivering newsletters that serve to engage readers in the in-box, showcase the breadth and depth of s journalism, and drive subscriptions.

Creates and maintains newsletter promotional plans, taking a broad view of forthcoming articles and projects and creating audience-targeted strategies to deliver such pieces across the newsletter suite

Manages big-picture strategy and day-to-day operations of various newsletters, which includes editorial planning, curation, display writing / editing, production, deployment, metrics and optimization.

Creates and oversees tactical plans for testing concepts and content that will drive reader engagement and subscriptions;

e.g., exclusive programming / incentives, CTAs, and engagement loops within newsletters and across platforms.

Reviews newsletters day-to-day to insure each edition is reader friendly, optimally engaging, and maximizes opportunities for subscription-driving.

Maintains a testing roadmap, collaborating cross-functionally with various Condé Nast teams to align on high-value content tests and optimizations.

Prioritizes and oversees implementation of such tests, delegating project management and production strategies. Shapes internal reporting and decision-making on findings.

Manages promotional programming across newsletters, e.g. integrating commerce and event promotions, podcast and other platform promotions, content swaps, etc.

Acquires a thorough familiarity with the editorial strategy and production processes of all newsletters and backstops for other team members as needed.

Additional duties as required, or as assigned by manager.

Skills and Qualifications :

Seven or more years in a journalism role, including at least three years of focus on the strategy and execution of e-mail newsletters.

Experience juggling multiple deadlines a day and reacting to the demands of the news cycle.

Excellent communication skills and experience working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

A track record of developing and delivering editorial strategies that deliver on business goals.

Outstanding writing, editing, and program management skills.

Excellent communication skills and experience working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

Expertise in newsletter best practices, both established and emerging.

Fluency in analytics and comfort using data to inform decision-making.

Strong familiarity with basic HTML, and Adobe creative suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and InCopy.

Meticulous attention to detail.

Ambitious, proactive, and a quick learner.

A strong knowledge of and interest in the style, and voice of

Willingness to work some early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $91k - $98k Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
