Job Description

This role is an exceptional opportunity to lead large-scale sustainability campaigns with the sustainability teams of major retailers, including Walmart and Sams Club (USA), Walgreens (USA), Walgreens Boots Alliance (UK), Ahold Delhaize (USA), Costco and more.

Youll be part of a team committed to bringing the best sustainability science to the consumer goods industry to create more sustainable products.

As the Sr. Program Manager, Retail, youll support retailers and their brands and manufacturers using THESIS while also contributing to the growth of TSCs supplier support program.

Key responsibilities of this role include managing relationships with global retailers, collaborating with TSCs Science and Impact teams to deliver THESIS campaign results that drive impact, listening for key needs to connect them to TSCs tools and programs, develop the expansion of services to merchant teams, develop and lead supplier support.

Working in collaboration with TSCs platform partners, you will act as the main point of contact for major, global retailers, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to connect science to business and drive positive sustainability impact at scale.

The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) is a consortium of companies, NGOs, and universities that supports the consumer goods industry to deliver more sustainable consumer products.

Through TSCs tools and programs it helps companies identify, prioritize, and address sustainability impacts in their supply chains.

TSCs product assessment tool, THESIS (The Sustainability Insight System) is the independent, science-based sustainability performance solution that allows Retailers and brands to communicate about sustainability performance.

THESIS is used by over 1, of the biggest consumer brands and manufacturers in the world.

Essential Duties

Lead TSC Services for Select Retail Users of THESIS (50%) :

  • Identify and cultivate new retail partners for THESIS.
  • Strategically lead THESIS campaigns from scoping to management, utilizing campaign results to determine next steps, and supporting retailers and suppliers through training, THESIS Live, and retailer kick-off webinars.
  • Cultivate and grow direct working relationships with sustainability, merchant / buyer, and sourcing teams of retailer accounts to drive the use of THESIS results throughout retailer systems, providing stewardship for retailers who are also members of TSC.
  • Assess, scope, and identify impact and business value opportunities for retailers through providing robust and responsive feedback and resources retailers need to successfully leverage THESIS into their sustainability strategies.
  • Leverage insights from retailers and suppliers to inform and develop TSCs retailer and supplier support services and product offerings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on the delivery of non-traditional projects or projects led by TSC Europe, with potential to grow TSCs services and deliver on our mission.

Lead THESIS supplier support services (35%) You will be at the forefront of providing comprehensive support services to THESIS users, ensuring they have the assistance and resources needed to maximize the effectiveness of THESIS in driving sustainability.

  • Help Desk Management : Oversee operations, ensuring timely responses and effective assistance. Collaborate with teams to address content and technical issues.
  • Help Center : Manage resources and instructional material for users, creating and updating guides, tutorials, and FAQs.
  • Live webinars : Collaborate with TSCs SciPact and MarComms teams to organize and host interactive webinars. Develop webinar content, coordinate logistics, and facilitate engaging discussions.

General TSC Strategy Team Responsibilities (15%) :

  • Contribute to TSCs Strategy team to set annual goals and strategic priorities and continually improve the retailer account management program.
  • Represent TSC externally, including some travel.
  • Support CEO and Chair for TSC Board meetings and material development.
  • Support written and verbal communications to stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for relevant revenue and cost targets as part of TSCs overall operating budget and strategic plan.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques to help keep all TSC deliverables on schedule and of the highest quality.
  • Flexible availability for occasional odd hours to support suppliers and retailers in different time zones, including those in Australia, Europe, and Asia.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field AND five years' experience managing projects / client relationships; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Masters degree in related field coupled with experience in managing client relationships in addition to command of second language / working knowledge of a foreign culture.
  • Experience in the sustainability industry, including programs, products, needs assessments, and result dissemination.
  • Experience in management, supervision, budget management, strategic planning, and organizational concepts.
  • Experience in problem-solving, decision-making, and communication.
  • Experienced in managing staff, establishing relationships, and team facilitation.
  • Adept at client relationship and project management with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in multitasking and driving behavioral changes for sustainability.
  • Experience in leadership supporting sustainability initiatives within the institution is crucial

Working Environment

  • This position is remote. ASU will provide standard equipment for your home office setup. Employee will be subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and / or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
