Position Summary
The Church Secretary is a vital part of our ministry support team, serving 28 to 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This role helps manage the daily business affairs of the church with grace, professionalism, and a servants heart. The secretary is expected to maintain an awareness of the needs of others, respond with kindness and efficiency, and assist fellow staff members as needed.
Primary responsibilities include answering and directing calls, greeting visitors, managing the church membership database, and performing general office dutiesall while demonstrating a cheerful and willing attitude of Christian service.
The ideal candidate is organized, energetic, attentive to detail, and able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Warmly welcomes all visitors and maintains a consistent, friendly presence in the church office.
- Answers phones and responds to general inquiry emails promptly and courteously.
- Maintains awareness of current events and activities within the church.
- Serves as point of contact and provides training for desk coverage when needed.
- Organizes and maintains office and printer supplies.
- Ensures the welcome area is clean, organized, and inviting at all times.

Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain organization.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and ability to learn new software.Familiarity with multi-line phone systems and excellent phone etiquette.Experience with data entry, filing, and record keeping.25 years of experience in customer service or administrative roles preferred.Reliable transportation.Strong typing and proofreading skills with attention to detail.Ability to handle in-person requests for community assistance with compassion and discretion.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality according to church policies.Ideal Candidate Attributes
