Job Overview

The Child inpatient unit is a 40-bed unit consisting of both crisis, intermediate, and DD bed availability. The nurse, along with a multidisciplinary team, collaborate on treatment goals that will be implemented to help treat patients with psychiatric and / or behavioral issues.

The Trinitas Department of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry, part of Trinitas Regional Medical Center and an RWJBarnabas Health facility, offers comprehensive treatments for daily stress, aging challenges, child development, and chemical dependency alternatives.

With specialized care for adults, children, adolescents, and families, including provisions for mentally ill / developmentally-disabled individuals in a 98-bed inpatient facility, we serve individuals from Union County and across New Jersey.

Providing over 200,000 outpatient visits annually, our services range from Mobile Crisis Units to Inpatient and Outpatient care, staffed by a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of practitioners, including bilingual staff.

Renowned for excellence and innovation, we lead in areas such as inpatient psychiatric care for individuals with Intellectual / Developmental Disabilities, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-focused residential programs for adolescent girls, making us one of New Jersey s premier hospital-based Behavioral Health providers.

Qualifications

Required :

  • ASN or Nursing Diploma
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills

Preferred

  • Med. / Surg. Telemetry and / or ER nursing experience
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health certifications and / or national nursing certifications

Certifications And Licenses Required

  • BLS through American Heart Association upon hire
  • ACLS Certification within 6 months of start date through American Heart Association
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License or active Compact Registered Nurse License with New Jersey endorsement

Scheduling Requirements

  • Night Shift, 40 hours per week, 11p-7 : 30a
  • Monday Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Essential Functions

  • The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
  • The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors / walls / ceiling tiles / unsecured areas) and medical errors.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
  • The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
