Position Summary : The Director of Education of UNO’s Samuel Bak Museum : The Learning Center will oversee all aspects of K-12 education programming and outreach including : K-12 field trips, K-12 collateral materials, audience outreach for community-based Museum programming, and community-based programming and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities include overseeing student docents, creating K-12 tour materials, and ensuring alignment with NE State Standards.
The Director will be the primary tour leader for K-12 tours and will create training materials for Field Trip Tour staff / volunteers.
They will develop relationships with metro and regional K-12 entities and ensure compliance with youth safety training standards.
The Director will be responsible for booking field trips and collaborating with the Business and Administrative Manager when using the EMS booking system.
They will act as the main Museum liaison with IHE Searching for Humanity field trip collaborations and represent the Museum in the education field.
This staff member must be a team player, willing to participate in all aspects of the Museum and collaborate on community partnership efforts.
The Director will assist the Executive Director in seeking education-specific funding and provide necessary information for grants and proposals.
The Director will work with the Business and Administration Manager, Executive Director, and other staff to create content for the Museum website, social media posts, and promotional materials for K-12 programs and audience engagement outreach.
They will also maintain financial records and manage sections of the budget.
