The Division of Genetic, Genomic, and Metabolic Disorders at Childrens Hospital of Michigan and Central Michigan University have an immediate opening for an additional full time MD / DO Clinical Geneticist.
Opportunity Highlights
In this position, the candidate will have the flexibility to shape their responsibilities clinically, in research, and leadership roles according to their interests, experience, and expertise.
The primary responsibilities will include seeing patients for evaluation and / or genetic counseling in the outpatient genetics clinics.
The clinical genetics team consists of six genetic counselors, two genetic counselor assistants, one nurse practitioner and two board certified Clinical Geneticists.
The division also has a metabolic team consisting of one board certified Medical Biochemical Geneticist, one genetic counselor, three dietitians, three nurses and two nurse practitioners;
part time support staff includes a psychologist. Additional responsibilities include the evaluation and management of patients on the inpatient consultation service, supervision and teaching of medical students, genetic counseling students, residents, and fellows.
The role of Program Director for the Medical Genetics and Genomics residency is a potential additional opportunity as well as the freedom to pursue individual research interests.
The academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Leadership roles in the division are available commensurate with interest and experience.
About the Division
We have an active Medical Genetics and Genomics Residency program with four current trainees and an accredited Genetic Counseling Graduate Program.
An on-site Cytogenetic / Molecular laboratory directed by board-certified laboratory geneticists complement the clinical service.
Candidate Requirements
- Must have a MD or DO degree
- BE / BC in Clinical or Medical Biochemical Genetics and Clinical Genetics
- BE / BC in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine is also desirable
- Eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Michigan
