Position Summary : Licensed Practical Nurse
The Licensed Practical Nurse works in collaboration with the Clinical Team in developing and maintaining the client’s treatment plan. The nurse promotes and restores patients’ health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients and families. Licensed Practical Nurses are responsible for the direct supervision and care of patients and for facilitating all clinical activities.
Responsibilities :
Provide direct patient care and assessment, including reporting changes in mental or physical condition and responding to emergencies and safety risks
Complete documentation efficiently and accurately, including nursing assessments and transcription of physician phone orders
Administer medications and monitor vital signs
Participate in treatment planning and professional staff meetings
Prepare infection control reports for internal committee review
Oversee staff providing care to patients in residential settings
Review patient medical charts for accuracy and completeness
Consult with residential supervisors regarding patient health
Initiate and implement nursing policies and procedures with appropriate approvals
Schedule and coordinate medical examinations as needed
Obtain required consents for medical exams and treatment from guardians or parents
Ensure timely completion of medical examinations per regulatory requirements
Train and monitor staff on medication administration procedures
Administer annual tuberculosis testing
Enforce compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations
Knowledge of :
Clinical documentation standards and charting procedures
Treatment of high-risk individuals and families
Basic first aid and life-saving techniques
General healthcare policies and procedures
Ability to :
Establish and maintain professional and community relationships
Monitor and manage use of medical supplies and equipment
Participate in departmental meetings
Track and report patient behavior in compliance with regulations
Protect patient rights and report suspected abuse or neglect
Deliver high-quality care to individuals with developmental and behavioral needs
Conduct self-evaluations and implement professional development plans
Respond effectively to emergencies and assist with evacuations
Communicate compassionately and clearly with patients and families
Maintain professional boundaries with both clients and staff
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Exercise sound judgment and leadership in high-pressure situations
Requirements :
Valid California Driver's License
Valid California Nursing License (LVN, LPT, or RN)
Current CPR / BLS certification
Minimum of one year of nursing experience (psych or substance use treatment experience preferred)
Must be 18 years or older
Effective communication skills and basic computer proficiency
Availability for 24-hour on-call responsibilities as needed
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Must meet all federal, state, and local background check and clearance requirements
