ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Physical Demands : must be able to lift and transfer 70-75 lbs. per Day Program Instructor. Work is active and performed inside and outside of the facility.
- Must be able to utilize approved protective hold techniques in order to keep you, clients, and co-workers safe.
- Create a learning environment; develop strategies to help clients cope effectively with social, emotional, and physical situations in daily living, and facilitate independent performance in these areas.
- Implement individual programs based on the interdisciplinary team's identification of clients' individual needs. Record data on all identified teaching strategies, report clients' progress, needs, and any barriers impeding progress.
- Monitor medical, physical, and behavioral changes in clients on a daily basis. Report any and all changes to the Day Program Manager or Program RN.
Clearly document any issues in clients' files and report to DDS as required. Complete client incident reports and forward to the Day Program Manager or Program Coordinator within 24 hrs.
- Follow written dietary plans for each client; assist with meal preparation, if required.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the Day Program site, inside and outside; assist with all laundry care; maintain the cleanliness of the vehicles and report any maintenance needed for the vehicle or property to the Day Program Manager immediately.
- Maintain clients' right to privacy, and adhere to CRI's Confidentiality Policy.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner when interacting with supervisors, coworkers, consultants, families and members of the community.
- Participate in mandatory training (i.e. in-services, staff meetings, conferences) as required; maintain all required training.
- Take clients to a variety of community based outings with the use of an agency vehicle.
- Perform other work related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and / or other management as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. VALID CT DRIVER'S LICENSE AND A GOOD DRIVING RECORD.
Public Service License may be required depending upon type of
transport vehicle used. Must be obtained within sixty (60) days of
hire or transfer. PSL must be maintained for the duration of
employment at day program.
2. EDUCATION : A Bachelor's degree in related Human Services area or
an Associate's degree in a related field and one (1) year's experience
is preferred. Minimum requirement for employment is a high school
diploma or GED.
3. TRAINING : FIRST AID, CPR, and PMT are requirements of the Day Program Instructor position. Must obtain CPR and FA within 45 days of hire.
MUST be able to attend all required training and in-services. Training similar to a Residential Instructor may be required as some positions may start / end in the residential program.
Day Program Instructors must either be medication certified or be eligible to obtain their certification.

Sat-Sun 3pm-9pm, Monday 3pm-11pm
