Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support.

Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily Description

Analogue Hardware (AHA) comprises the specification, design, and implementation of analogue hardware. This covers small signal Radio Frequency (RF), power amplifiers, and RF filter parts of the radio products as well as sub module level verification and product unit level specification and integration.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Responsible for thermal design, simulation analysis and test validation for radio products.

  • To carry out thermal analysis at system level, board level, and component level with minimal to no support.
  • To evaluate the CFD results using the heat transfer and thermodynamic principles, in conjunction with thorough comparison against analytical results.
  • To review thermal setup and validate the CFD results with results from the tests carried out on manufactured products in experimental testing.
  • To prepare technical reports and presentations with simulation plots, suggestions and recommendations.
  • To contribute towards ongoing internal research activities.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

  • Education background : Bachelor’s degree or above in thermodynamic Engineering or related engineering.
  • Specific Skills, knowledge and competencies :
  • Above 5 years working experience as Thermal engineer;
  • Understanding heat transfer theories;
  • Proven skill set to use CFD to evaluate Passive-cooled and air-cooled solutions;
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and transform them into practical solutions;
  • Familiar with thermal measurement technology and test tools such as temperature data logger, IR camera, air chamber, air speed meter etc.
  • Ability to aggressively drive tasks independently and to seek out information internally, externally;
  • Works with a positive attitude for accomplishing objectives;
  • Teamwork capability, and capable of working in dynamic environments;
  • Focused to solve objectives but still open to new ideas;
  • Language Ability : Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Plus :
  • Experience of Flotherm & Flotherm XT or other CFD analysis tools;
  • Experience in the communications industry is a plus;
  • Experience in telecommunications device design is preferred.
