Title : 3rd Shift Maintenance Mechanic
Location : Aurora, IL
Essential Tasks :
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Work from blueprints, specifications, sketches, and verbal orders to install, transfer, move, set-up, repair, operate, or test machines, tools, electrical controls, and measuring devices.
- Use a variety of maintenance hand and power tools.
- Use electrical and electronic instruments and testing devices, if qualified to do so.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls, and preventive maintenance reports.
Prepare specific and accurate parts request forms.
- Properly respond to maintenance and live stoppage calls and be prepared to provide emergency repairs efficiently.
- Follow company policy and OSHA regulations to ensure safe work habits and conditions for employees and fellow employees.
Responsible for preventing loss or injury due to improper or unsafe operations of equipment. Responsible for following lockout / tagout procedures as well as specific procedures dealing with confined spaces and hazardous material.
- Collaborate with coworkers and supervisor in decisions related to breakdown repair options. Recommend cost-saving improvements to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area within the maintenance shop and at each work site where jobs are performed.
- Display initiative in recognizing work to be done; show judgment and ingenuity in helping with troubleshooting and recommending repairs.
- Perform duties in all areas within the Maintenance Department.
- Supply and maintain all tools required to perform everyday duties. Keep the toolbox and tools free of grease, rust, etc.
All tools are to be kept in good working condition and follow the tool sanitation procedure when working on equipment.
Physical Requirements :
- Capable of exerting up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Must be able to identify various parts, read mechanical and electrical blueprints, read instruments, gauges, scales, thermometers, micrometers, etc.
- Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Capable of moving up and down building stairways and equipment ladders to reach job assignments and perform tasks required.
- Tasks may require working from a ladder or elevated platform and in confined spaces such as bulk storage bins or tanks.
- Physical activities required are stooping, climbing, crouching, reaching, feeling, standing, kneeling, crawling, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, bending, grasping, talking, and hearing.
- Capable of understanding complex verbal and written task instructions in English, and reading equipment manuals, blueprints, measuring instruments, notices, and work schedules as posted on the bulletin board.
- Worker subject to working mostly inside, protected from weather conditions with occasional outside work.
- Worker may be subject to noise sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard.
- Worker is subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, and moving objects carrying considerable weight and force.
- Capable of working in an environment with flour dust.
