Job Summary :
The Service Unit Department Manager RN is responsible for managing a large unit or multiple units providing ambulatory services within the Urology and Head and Neck departments.
The role ensures the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused care, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
The manager will develop and maintain clinical standards, oversee budgeting, and drive staff development while collaborating with physicians and health care providers to maintain patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage operations of large or multiple units, ensuring compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other regulations.
Collaborate with physicians and health care providers to maintain patient care standards.
Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues and designing processes to improve care across the continuum.
Develop and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to reduce costs while improving quality of care.
Determine staff mix, oversee hiring, training, and competency development of department staff.
Manage HR, labor relations, safety, and risk management within the department.
Implement and monitor departmental policies in alignment with organizational goals.
Collaborate with department leadership to manage day-to-day operations.
Basic Qualifications :
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years in nursing management / leadership roles.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
Ambulatory clinic management experience required.
Experience working in a union environment required.
Strong understanding of The Joint Commission, State, and other regulatory requirements.
Education :
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field, OR 4 years of directly related experience.
License, Certification, Registration :
Current California RN license.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Additional certifications (PALS, PEARS, ACLS) may be required for specific departments.
Skills :
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a Labor / Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an outpatient care setting.
Clinical specialization in the area of practice.
Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
