The Business Development Manager must have strong interpersonal and entrepreneurial leadership skills for building linkages to external customers that lead to an in-depth discovery of their current and future product / service and business needs.

He / she is responsible for developing, coordinating and supporting the commercial, industrial and renewables market segments for all G&W product lines as a member of the Domestic and International Sales team.

A strong focus for this market is on pad mount and vault distribution switchgear and distribution automation technologies, but includes all products in the G&W portfolio.

He / She is responsible for representing G&W to electrical engineering consultants, engineer-procure-construct firms, PC's, distributors, universities, renewable energy developers and OEM's, and governmental agencies, among others, in order to maintain existing accounts and establish new opportunities for growth.

This position will cover an assigned geographic area.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Establish new relationships within strategic vertical markets; Use industry, technical, social networking or other skills in order to identify and set up meetings with key decision makers at target firms
  • Determine market segmentation and key target accounts; determine key decision makers and build customer relationships
  • Coordinate sales efforts with Domestic Sales organization and marketing
  • Leverage key relationships as needed to identify emerging needs and solutions; communicate this information in a clear and concise format to product development teams for further investigation and integration into G&W new product development
  • Develop and manage strategic sales initiatives with input from the Domestic Sales Vice President and Global Regional Vice Presidents
  • Maintain, coordinate and manage an opportunity pipeline for geographic area of responsibility
  • Provide direct technical support to sales representatives; conduct sales presentations, technical design discussions, drawing reviews, commissioning and on-site product training
  • Assist application engineers with quote preparation on both technical and commercial requirements
  • Optimize schedule in order to most efficiently balance time, travel and sales calls
  • Respond in timely manner to e-mails and phone calls during non-traditional working hours

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum of BS Degree in technical discipline, MBA preferred
  • Proven experience working within or leading a sales team; ability to effectively lead and energize a multi-functional team to meet sales plan
  • Electrical Medium Voltage Switchgear industry experience
  • Solid communication skills, both written and oral, analytical capabilities, and technically proficient
  • Proficiency with personal computer, Microsoft Office and standard business software
  • Ability to travel regularly 50% of the time
