A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT (COTA)
As an OT assistant in home health care, you play an essential role in using occupational treatment procedures to help improve mobility as well as relieve pain and disability caused by disease or injury for our patients.
Under the supervision of a qualified OT, you perform planned and delegated services in accordance with our organization's policies.
You help teach the patient and their caregivers when applicable about the different treatments, so they are well-informed about their health and the recovery process.
After meeting with patients, you assist with preparing clinical and progress notes.
You provide all services in accordance with CMS documentation and billing requirements, including functional reassessment requirements.
The safety of your patients is of the utmost importance to you, and you take great care to practice infection control by following universal precautions.
You also actively recognize and report any forms of abuse according to policy as well as federal and state laws. At times, you help with tasks around the office and participate in training activities that help you further advance your skills.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT (COTA)
- Graduate of a school of occupational therapy that has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
- Active COTA license in good standing
- 1+ years of professional experience within the past two years
- CPR certification or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of being hired
- Valid driver's license from the state of Oklahoma, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
