We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team and ensure the highest standards of care for our residents.
Job Summary :
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of our senior living community, with a special focus on memory care.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing nursing teams, a deep understanding of memory care, and a proven track record as an RN Manager with Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) experience.
The DON will ensure compliance with all health regulations, provide leadership to our nursing staff, and collaborate with other departments to enhance resident care.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership and Management :
- Lead and manage the nursing department, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality care.
- Mentor and support nursing staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing education and training.
Memory Care Expertise :
- Oversee and enhance memory care programs, ensuring they meet the needs of residents with dementia and other cognitive impairments.
- Collaborate with the medical team to develop individualized care plans.
- Stay current with the latest memory care research and best practices.
Regulatory Compliance :
- Ensure the facility meets all state and federal regulations and standards.
- Prepare for and manage health department inspections and audits.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation.
Resident and Family Relations :
- Act as a liaison between residents, families, and healthcare providers.
- Address and resolve concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Promote a culture of respect, dignity, and person-centered care.
Operational Oversight :
- Manage the nursing department budget, including staffing and supplies.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless and integrated care delivery.
Qualifications : Education :
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current RN license in MD.
Experience :
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing management experience, with at least 3 years in a memory care or senior living setting.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) or equivalent role.
- Strong understanding of memory care programs and best practices.
Skills :
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle high-stress situations.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant software.
