The Registered Nurse, RN, Hospital Float is accountable for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients served and collaborates with other members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
The Registered Nurse, RN, Hospital Float practices professional nursing by utilizing the nursing process and adheres to standards set forth in the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania and Grand View Health policies and procedures.
The Registered Nurse, RN, Hospital Float floats to various units within the Grand View Health hospital based on the patient census and the skills of the RN.
An ability to work efficiently and effectively with others, providing compassionate and cutting edge patient care while also contributing to the positive and collaborative team environment at Grand View Health is a must.
Essential Functions :
Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department, or unit patient safety initiatives.
Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety
- Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority
- Implements policies, procedure, and standards consistently in the performance of assigned duties
- Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge
- Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships
- Fosters a healing environment for patients and families
- Assumes responsibility and authority for establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient / family and creating an individualized plan of care and evaluates patient's response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Integrates clinical reasoning and knowledge as the foundation for decision-making
- Balances patient's rights and organization's responsibilities in providing professional and ethical care.
Schedule : Three 12 hour shifts a week, 7 : 00 pm - 7 : 30am. Modified Self-Scheduled. 4 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule. Every third holiday.
Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Nursing Diploma, required
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
Licenses and Certifications :
Registered Nurse in PA Licensed, Upon hire, required
Basic Life Support, American Heart Association certification, required
