Description
St. Thomas the Apostle School, a TK-8 Catholic elementary school, is seeking a dedicated and innovative Math and Science teacher for middle school for the 2024-2025 school year.
The middle school Math / Science teacher will also be responsible for one grade-level homeroom. The ideal candidate has STEM experience and is adept in planning, implementing, and assessing student-centered and inquiry-based instruction based on Common Core Math Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
The prospective candidate is able to use multiple forms of data to guide instruction and assess student progress. In addition to classroom instruction, the candidate must be a team player and willing to collaborate with administration, colleagues, parents, students, and parish community.
The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic, in good standing with the Catholic Church, mission-driven, and dedicated to Creating a blessed community, in the heart of Los Angeles, one child at a time.
Requirements
- Practicing Catholic
- BA degree
- CA Teaching Credential or MA degree preferred (or currently enrolled in a program)
- Ability to teach using technology (a must)
- Strong classroom management skills
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience
- Knowledgeable about Renaissance STAR Assessments, Accelerated Reader, Gradelink, Planbook.com, and Google Suites is helpful.
Other duties : lesson planning and assessment, yard supervision, and club / activities moderator.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
