Project / Unit Description
The Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory's (SEAL) Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD) is looking for scientists and engineers with interest and experience in signal processing and algorithm development for radar applications.
The ISR Division's projects focus on advanced signal processing, adaptive sensor technologies, advanced algorithms, machine learning, and modeling and simulation for applications that include airborne radar, electronic warfare, and undersea systems.
Job Purpose
RF / Radar Systems Engineers work with a team to perform advanced system and algorithm development using established systems engineering approaches.
Based on detailed trade studies and requirements analyses, radar systems engineers develop solutions to satisfy system requirements and perform functions related to all aspects of radar system design.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop requirements and direct others to perform design and theory research and lab testing tasks as task lead.
- Mentor others in developing methods and expertise in broad areas of design, theory, and testing as task lead.
- Document work of design, theory, and test in written and presentation form as team lead.
- Primary lead on the development of whitepapers and proposals in research areas of expertise.
- Primary lead on sponsors and potential sponsors engagement.
- Primary author of entire technical reports / presentations of projects, journal articles, and conference presentations.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited degree program relevant to this position will be considered. The candidate must have a graduation date of no later than December, 2024.
- Experience with radar applications, signal processing, or sensor algorithm development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as evidenced by conference presentations or papers.
- Experience working classified DoD or DoE projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS / SCI Clearance.
- Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a similar related field.
- 3+ years of experience programming in Matlab.
- 3+ years research experience.
- Experience leading research and development teams.
- Demonstrated success at securing research funding.
