Collector I
Location : Costa Mesa, CA
Position Summary :
The Collector I resolves payments with insurance companies, government payors, and patients. Key duties include :
- Managing accounts and work queues
- Evaluating and pricing claims
- Initiating underpayment appeals
- Handling payor / patient correspondence
- Escalating billing issues
- Reporting billing edits
- Understanding Revenue Cycle and managed care contracts
- Interpreting EOBs and ERAs
- Educating on benefit plans
- Familiarity with UB04 and HCFA 1500 forms
- Knowledge of insurance payors and claims processing
- Using patient accounting systems
- Documenting calls and actions
- Setting up payment arrangements
- Processing bankruptcy and deceased patient accounts
Required Skills & Experience :
- 1 year of hospital business experience or strong customer service background
- Basic knowledge of insurance plans, hospital reimbursement, ICD10, and CPT coding
Education :
Required : High school diploma or equivalent
