Job Overview :
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician.
This role involves monitoring patient health, administering medications, and assisting with various medical procedures. The LPN ensures that patients receive high-quality care and support throughout their treatment.
Key Responsibilities :
Patient Care : Provide basic nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with daily activities.
Medical Procedures : Assist with a variety of medical tasks and procedures as directed by RNs or physicians, including basic care and support activities.
Patient Assessment : Observe and document patient conditions, including changes in symptoms or vital signs. Report significant changes to the supervising RN or physician.
Medication Administration : Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. Ensure proper documentation and adherence to medication protocols.
Patient Education : Educate patients and their families about health conditions, medications, and treatment plans. Provide guidance on self-care and lifestyle modifications.
Record Keeping : Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including care plans, treatment progress, and medical histories.
Ensure records are updated and compliant with privacy regulations.
Communication : Collaborate with healthcare team members, including RNs, physicians, and other staff, to coordinate patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families to address concerns and provide support.
Infection Control : Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients. Adhere to safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Emergency Response : Respond to patient emergencies promptly and appropriately. Provide basic life support and emergency care as needed.
Administrative Tasks : Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and coordinating with other departments as necessary.
Qualifications :
Education : Completion of an accredited LPN program
Licensure : Valid LPN license in New York.
Experience : Previous experience as an LPN in a healthcare setting preferred, but not always required.
Skills :

- Proficiency in medical procedures and patient care protocols.

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required depending on the setting.
Work Environment :
Physical Demands : The role involves standing, walking, and lifting patients or equipment. May require working in various healthcare settings such as clinic or ambulatory outpatient surgical centers.
Work Hours : Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with occasional overtime or optional weekend work based on the needs of the facility.
