The State of Victoria has established a Container Deposit Scheme CDS to promote Victoria’s transition to a circular economy by enabling the payment of refunds for Suitable Eligible Containers that are returned to Refund Collection Points.
Visy was awarded the Network Operator role for the Scheme across two regions in November 2022.
As the Internal Auditor CDS, you will play a crucial role in monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of our program.
Your role will be to fulfill the verification requirements outlined in the Network Operator Agreement as provided by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management, you will work closely with them to execute risk based internal audits of the Scheme, including management of the Collection Refund Points (CRPs) and handling of material sales, including the auction platform.
The suitable candidate will have their own vehicle as this role requires frequent domestic travel.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to :
- Assistance in preparing the annual audit plan in conjunction with any specific requirements of the Scheme.
- Plan and complete risk-based audits of the Scheme in accordance with internally developed audit programs.
- Prepare internal audit reports which document the audit findings, implications and recommendations for corrective action or improvements.
- Liaise with Visy IDT and CDS Project team to ensure ongoing reporting and analytics remain adequate to meet the verification requirements of the Scheme.
- Conduct physical CRP audits to assess OHS performance, environmental performance and adherence to processes, along with fraud prevention.
To be considered you must have :
- Solid experience in auditing, preferably within environmental sustainability programs or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of auditing principles, practices, and standards.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and recycling industry practices will be advantageous.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
