What you’ll be doing

We are looking for a Professional Services Field Superintendent supports the Arena Network (Data, Wi-Fi, and Voice) for the on-site leadership, administration and delivery of the client relationship (Owner, Owner Representative, Construction Manager, Architect, Engineer, and other Trades), program solution, and program lifecycle for Professional Services delivery the United States.

This role also supports the Wireless DAS project that is associated to the Arena. This senior leadership role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including Construction and Network program governance, executive stakeholder communications, field implementation, safety program, compliance program, AIA requirements, and financial tracking and analysis, all part of managing a multi-million dollar project focused on the delivery of Intelligent Network solutions for this key client.

As the Field Superintendent, you will support a team of Professional Services project director, technical director, project managers, integration architect, lead engineers, subcontractors, and supporting staff to deliver the Arena activities that will support interrelated Data, Wi-Fi, and VOIP network deployment projects that includes converged network system for the Arena that have been traditionally isolated systems.

This individual must work collaboratively in a dynamic, face-paced environment and be able to proactively seek creative solutions to complex problems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

Work directly with the TPV (subcontractor) for scheduling, implementing and validating operation of the converged network system within the defined construction and implementation schedule for the Arena.

Coordinate the all on-site activities with Construction Managers, Trades, and off-site teams.

  • Responsible for all activities on-site of the Arena construction and compliance with contractual agreements and Construction Manager defined procedures, regulations, and rules.
  • Strong foundation and understanding of construction, OSHA regulations, State construction regulations, data networking including VLAN and routing and switching protocols, Wi-Fi networking, VOIP networking and communications, operating systems (Windows and Linux), cybersecurity, structured cabling materials and telecom room layout, terminology, equipment functions and infrastructure.
  • Manage direct reports and staff assigned to work on-site.
  • Attend all construction, owner, owner representative, architect, engineer, and trades meetings on-site to facilitate Verizon work activities and / or construction safety and work rules.
  • Enforce all construction and safety regulations and requirements for staff and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate all logistics with Construction Manager, associated Trades, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all construction reporting (Daily, Weekly, Ad Hoc, etc.) be completed on requested / required timeframes.
  • Maintain up-to-date records including equipment inventory.
  • Update project plans include Gantt Charts (Microsoft Project), Spreadsheets (Microsoft / Google), Word Processors (Microsoft / Google), Presentations (Microsoft / Google), and Blueprint updates related to As-Builds (Blueprint Revu).
  • Experience working with Cloud Based Productivity Tools (Office 365, Google, Smartsheets) and Collaboration Tools (Cisco WebEx, Microsoft Teams Bluejeans, Slack, Cisco Jabber).
  • Daily inspection of entire Arena worksite to ensure the areas are clean.
  • Review construction locations for readiness to start work and develop punch list for any issues found.
  • Ensure workmanship is completed to contractual specifications and photos and inventory are captured.
  • Attend all planned and unplanned and Subcontractor meetings when not engaged with Construction Manager on planned or unplanned activities.
  • Report to OVG Project Director and secondary daily reporting to Arena Project Manager.
  • Providing regular, status updates including daily progress toward achieving objectives.
  • Using good judgment to escalate issues to senior leadership or Construction Manager as appropriate.
  • Assist in leveraging essential program and project management skills such as resourcing, financial management, requirements identification and tracking to milestones.

We’re looking for an experienced Field Superintendent who has a mix of advanced technology, construction project management, and strategic business acumen, who can :

  • An understanding of formal architectural and engineering drawings (Blueprints), structured cabling materials and telecom room layout, terminology, equipment functions and infrastructure.
  • An understanding of Networking fundamentals and associated technologies in LAN / WAN / Wi-Fi / VOIP environments from the last mile circuit to the desktop, access point, and / or voice device.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity that connects end users, tenants, and vendors across the Internet to internal systems securely and isolated appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively in a dynamic, face-paced environment.
  • Proactively seek creative solutions to complex problems. Must be a resourceful and customer-centric problem solver.
  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Handle multiple priorities.
  • Fluent in all layers of the OSI model.

The ideal candidate must have the following :

  • BS or higher OR 8+ years of experience
  • At least 3 years of Construction Management Site Experience
  • At least 3 years of Construction Management Safety Experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience in professional services, IT Operations, and / or technology management consulting.
  • Experience in construction site project management with focus on network infrastructure site surveys and network and infrastructure implementation projects.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and principles, including experience in deliverables associated with these practices.
  • Able to build relationships and inspire teamwork among diverse owner, construction manager, trades, and cross-functional units (architects, engineers, etc.).
  • Must be able to execute and deliver within high pressure environments.
  • Excellent organizational & communication skills and be able to work with a sense of urgency.
  • The ability to work effectively under extreme time constraints and deliver against critical deadlines.
  • Does not require direct supervision; able to take high level direction and proactively move a project or internal initiative from start to finish with minimal assistance.
  • Able to perform a wide variety of organizational tasks and direct the work of others.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and align to business requirements.
  • Knowledge of Agile programs and process related to infrastructure technology deployment and gathering user requirements.

The ideal candidate may have the following :

  • Industry project management certification such as PgMP and PMP
  • Experience with technology construction environment project delivery, including industry and regulatory standards.
  • Technical industry certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, etc.
  • Security Certification such as CISSP, CISM, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies such as IoT, SDN, NFV, etc.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training Certification.
