The General Clerk I- Mail Clerk follows detailed specific procedures in completing several repetitive clerical steps performed in a prescribed or slightly varied sequence such as coding and filing documents in an extensive alphabetical file;
could involve simple posting to individual accounts, opening mail, calculating and posting charges to departmental accounts, operating basic office equipment, e.
g. photocopier, facsimile, multi-line phone / voicemail systems, mailing machines, and minimal computer programs. Little or no subject-matter knowledge is required but the clerk uses his or her judgment in choosing the proper procedure for each task.
- Completes required paperwork and / or documentation. Must be able to sort incoming mail by correspondence, symbol, room number, office, or individual name and deliver to the designated mail stops.
- Responsible for safety within the scope of work by proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies. Conduct quality control checks to ensure that all mail is routed to the intended location.
- Communicates in a professional, courteous manner in and out of the mailroom with co-workers and federal employees.
- Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.
