Description :

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.

This role includes providing care to patients through the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and resources within the institution's philosophy.

Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service.

The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.

Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for the healthcare team is essential.

The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.

The plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures are implemented accordingly.

Plans of care are modified based upon continuous evaluations.

Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and / or correcting safety hazards and incidents is crucial.

The RN communicates directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues.

Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers.

Conferring with colleagues to expand one's knowledge base is encouraged.

Identifying personal learning needs and initiating appropriate solutions is expected.

Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is a requirement.
