Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Milton is seeking a Public Safety Officer to join the Department of Public Safety and Security.
Hours per week : 40
This position is Full-Time, Evenings (3pm - 11 : 30pm)
Position Summary
Reporting to the BID-Milton Manager of Public Safety and Security, this position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the BID-Milton Hospital property areas by possessing a safety centric mindset with a focus on customer service and WE CARE standards at all times.

Duties / Responsibilities :
Monitor BID-Milton Hospital facilities through proactive interior and exterior patrols to prevent, deter and identify potential criminal activity, identify safety concerns and public safety hazards.
Escalate identified issues following department policies and procedures.
Welcoming, assisting and directing all staff, patients and visitors into the facility while ensuring all applicable BID-Milton Hospital rules & regulations and operating policy & procedures are being met and / or abided by in a professional manner.
Monitor all CCTV and alarm stations for criminal and / or safety situations and take required applicable steps and make needed notifications
De-escalates crisis situations through verbal de-escalation techniques, when necessary, effects physical restraints techniques.
Performs a varying degree of patient watches and monitoring, rounding, parking lot audits and post assignments, as directed.
Tours the facility and reports any applicable security and / or safety issues too appropriate parties.
Respond and assist to all emergencies, codes and / or calls for assistance
In the absence of Lead Public Safety Officer and / or Public Safety and Security Leadership, Acts as a liaison between the hospital and local emergency services
Prepare and submit incident reports and daily activity reports in a complete and accurate manner.
Maintain open lines of communication and positive working relations with hospital staff to ensure all issues, assistance requests and follow-ups are handled in a timely and complete manner.
Assist all Hospital Departments to ensure safe and secure operations of the Hospital.
Supports the hospitals core values and mission by providing exceptional customer focused service for patients, visitors and staff.
Have a working knowledge and literacy of CCTV, ID badging and Access Control Systems (CCure 9000)
Ability to utilize a telephone, computer, communications and dispatch software.
Possess the flexibility to work a variety of shifts in a given schedule period to include overtime as needed.
Possess the ability to handle private information with discretion and in accordance with all applicable Hospital Policies and State & Federal guidelines.

Education / Experience :
Must hold a High School diploma or ., some college credits preferred.
Possess 6 months to 1 years of experience in a related Security and / or Customer Service environment.
Previous / current Healthcare Public Safety / Security, law enforcement, and / or military experience strongly preferred
Basic familiarity with computers and Public Safety equipment. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
Ability to properly and effectively use radio communication equipment.
Thorough working knowledge of the hospital environment.

Certifications / Licensures :
Must obtain and maintain Level III AVADE Certification within 3 months of employment. MOAB, or other, may be substituted until training is offered by the organization.
American Heart Association BLS CPR certification
MA License to Carry Firearms within 3 months of employment
Must maintain MA Driver’s License
Must successfully Complete IAHSS Basic Security Officer training within 60 Days of employment.
Physical / Environmental Requirements
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs.
There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech.
Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
