Vice President Controller (based in the Los Angeles area)

The VP, Controller is accountable for guiding and executing the accounting operations for our client's West region. This role is tasked with establishing accounting policies, enforcing internal controls, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

By collaborating with internal stakeholders, this leader assesses organizational operations, identifies challenges, and implements process improvements.

This role is based in Pomona, CA and is a hybrid position expected to be onsite 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage daily accounting operations, including General Accounting, Project Accounting, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Billings, and Payroll.
  • Develop and maintain business processes and accounting policies to ensure effective internal controls and the integrity of financial records.
  • Oversee the financial close process and ensure timely, accurate reporting of revenue, expenses, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Supervise account reconciliations and ensure prompt resolution of discrepancies.
  • Respond to audit inquiries and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with FP&A for data needs, analysis, and executive-level reporting.
  • Provide accurate data for forecasting, P&L, and cash flow planning.
  • Manage cash flow, monitor KPIs, and drive necessary actions.
  • Conduct analysis to identify and address financial and operational variances.
  • Drive business transformation efforts aligned with strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, auditors, vendors, and customers.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering professional growth.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management; MBA, MS, and / or CPA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes, internal controls, and ERP systems.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to close books accurately and efficiently, report results, and explain variances.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead through change in a dynamic environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset focused on simplification and consensus-building.
  • Highly organized with strong project and time management skills.
