CapitolDebate Summer Camps is seeking active Public Speaking and DebateCoaches for our summer camps. We host camps in 15cities throughout the country and run different 2 weeksessions from June 15 to August 7 2025.
Great travel opportunity! Prospect must be able to work at least 6 weeks this summerat up to 3 different campuses and prospect must be able to live oncampus.
Travel to different states and cities isrequired.
JobDescription :
PublicSpeaking and Debate Coach is responsible for the overall success ofcurriculum delivery in the clroom student learning and motivation.
Report and work directly with the Camp Director to ensure a smoothcamp experience. As an Instructor your job is to empower andsupport each student to reach greatness. Responsibilitiesinclude :
- Guideand support the curriculum and lectureplanning
- Familiarizeyourself with the Summer DebateTopic
- Youare responsible for helping students research write their speechesand / or presentations and providefeedback
- Youare responsible for isting in judging the student competitions andhelping facilitate the studentshowcase
- Runcles
- Deliverlectures
- Supportother Instructors and CampCounselors
- Judgepractice debates student presentations and CampCompetitions
- Youwill be required to extend your hours leading up to thecompetition(s) mentioned above as we approach the campcompetition
- Attendall staff meetings during thecamp
- istwith first and lastday camp ceremonies andactivities
- Arriveone (1) day prior to the official start of camp Day0
- ist withadministrative or other matters during camp as requested by CampDirector
- Participatein approximately 10 hours of precamp curriculum and generaltraining lesson and camp planning and collaboration meetings withCapitol Debate Headquarters Camp Directors and Instructors for eachcampsession
- Participatein online training whenneeded
Requirements
Requirements&Experience
- ABSOLUTEMUST : Coached Competitive Public Speaking and Debate in one or moreof the following competitive activities Speech and Debate teamForensics Mock Trial Team Model United Nations Team orsimilar.
- ABSOLUTEMUST : Minimum 2 Years of Clroom Experience in 6 to 12th gradeSchool or CollegeLevel.
- BachelorsDegreeRequired
- MastersDegreePreferred
- Theapplicant must be fullyvaccinated.
- ExperienceWorking in youthbased programspreferred
- Staffmay be required to walk long distances while supervising childrenin between campuses locations under summer weatherconditions.

Musttravel to and live on College Campus duringCamp
Requirements & Experience Counselors / junior instructors areoften current college students or recent high school graduates witha background in public speaking and debate (including activitieslike DECA, Model UN, and Mock Trials).
Experience working inyouth-based programs is a plus. Required attendance at trainingsessions and planning meetings leading up to our summer program,including an all-staff orientation and training on Day 0.
ReturningCounselors are eligible for increased responsibilities andcompensation. Staff may need to walk long distances under summerconditions and share dorm rooms with fellow counselors of the samegender.
High school graduate or equivalent (Preferred) Fullyvaccinated Experience in oral advocacy activities such as Speechand Debate, Mock Trial, Model United Nations, or similar (Required)Experience working at a summer camp : 1 year (Preferred) CompetitivePublic speaking : 2 years (Required) Compensation is set and will bediscussed during interview
