Role responsibilities :
- Assist clients with daily routines such as light exercise and mindfulness activities like reading.
- Create opportunities to connect and socialize over a good meal.
- Assist with personal care and hygiene for clients by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating.
- Remind clients to take prescribed medication, as needed.
- Help with mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, shopping, etc.)
- Assist with daily household chores, like laundry and dishes, to help bring peace of mind and comfort to our clients.
- Provide our clients and their beloved pets with a helping hand.
- Be proactive in preventing harmful falls or other injuries by maintaining a clean environment, removing tripping hazards, helping our clients with mobility, and keeping the environment as safe as possible.
- Report any unusual incidents and act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergencies.
- Update care logs with mobile app or computer.
Required Qualifications
- Reliable and dependable able to commit to clients, arrive on time, and proactively communicate any needs or issues
- Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting
- Access to smart phone and ability to navigate Home Care specific apps
- Eager to improve and open to education and learning new skills.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for every shift
- Consistently act in a compassionate and supportive manner
- Willingness to comply with health and safety standards.
- Committed to the mission and values of ameriCARE Pittsburgh.
Preferred Qualifications
- Available to work different shifts, including nights and / or weekends
- Basic knowledge of nutrition and exercise, or willingness to learn.
- Prior experience in a service field such as education, healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year)
- Hoyer Lift Experience (specific to client)
