Technical Writer

Project Overview :

Search Design System (SDS) is the central source for Search design styles, tokens, components, and templates that Search and partner teams can use to deliver features on the Search Results Page (SRP).

We aim to simplify the launch process and enable teams to create simple, modern, and cohesive experiences. To achieve this mission we provide engineering and design resources including front-end engineering components, a Figma sticker sheet, a design guidelines website, and more.

Overall Responsibilities :

We seek a Tech Writer with advanced knowledge and experience in creating and translating UX design specifications and guidelines into customer-facing, easy-to-understand content for the internal spec site.

This includes developing high quality design documentation, working with contributing teams to improve design documentation, responding to incoming requests, and maintaining and developing clear information architecture for the design guidelines site.

Top Responsibilities :

• Draft and publish customer-facing design documentation for design system offering
• Collaborate with stakeholders to obtain critical information for content
• Collaborate with technical writers on the engineering team to ensure UX and engineering documentation remains in sync.
• Maintain high quality, consistent documentation
• Work collaboratively and proactively in a diverse team environment, involving multiple stakeholders.

Mandatory Skills / Qualifications :

• Excellent verbal and written English language skills
• Ability to translate highly technical documents into easily understandable support content for customers.
• 5+ years of experience in technical product writing such as software, web, and app-based products
• 3+ years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional technology organization
• Strong foundation and experience working with design teams to document UX guidelines including considerations such as design configuration, accessibility, localization and internationalization
• Experience writing across multiple platforms
• Portfolio demonstrating contributions to systems thinking and the ability to create clear and consistent guidelines across a design system website
• Experience using an internal CMS, able to assess its flexibility and limitations

Non-Essential Skills / Qualifications : (Skills that would be nice to have but are not essential in the role)

• Working knowledge of Figma
• Experience with Design Systems
