Job Summary
Seeking lab technician to assist with daily operations of pro bono healthcare clinic and routine maintenance of safe patient handling and mobility lab.
This position is located at GateWay Community College's 18th Street Campus.
HUG Clinic (Healthcare United at Gateway) - 80% of the time
- Greet and check-in patients, assist with patient paperwork, and book appointments
- Create, organize, file, and retrieve patient charts
- Prepare the laundry bag, clean, and organize the clinic
- Primary clerical duties include data entry, creating Word documents, scanning, and copying
- Answer phones and non-routine email correspondence and handle confidential medical information
- Perform weekly safety equipment checks, conduct supply inventory, and maintain the cleanliness of the gym floor
- Participate in clinic-related events and other duties as assigned
SaPHE Lab (safe patient handling education) - 20% of the time
- Complete weekly SaPHE equipment and safety inspections in the lab
- Assist in general supply inventory management
- Help lab instructors with set up or during classes as needed

In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements.

- FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
- FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
- FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
- The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a GateWay Community College student registered for 6 or more credit hours and received financial aid eligibility.

- Ability to have self-initiative to learn equipment guidelines and complete daily tasks
- Professional demeanor
- Previous customer service experience is highly desirable
