Job Description
Function
Set up and operate automated and non-automated external, internal, surface or centerless grinding machines to perform routine and repetitive rough and finish grinding operations.
Typical Responsibilities
Follow standard grinding practices, ordinary drawings, specifications, operation sheets and specific instructions to perform a variety of routine production operations to grind I.
D., O.D., radii, tapers, grooves, recesses, threads, faces and shoulders on all assigned types and forms of materials.
Use all standard faceplates, centers, arbors, fixtures, etc., as applicable to make routine set-ups.
Use specified wheel, adjust pre-determined feed and speed, and dress and shape wheel to obtain optimum stock removal and specified finish.
Block, clamp, and shim to hold and align work piece and prevent springing, distortion or breakage.
Maintain close tolerances, limited interrelated dimensions, concentricity, and etc. per production requirements.
Perform other related work of a comparable or lower skill level, including deburring, polishing and part marking.
Maintain quality standards by checking work visually and with basic measuring instruments; record data manually or electronically as required.
Refer all questionable conditions or recurring difficulties to Working Leader or Supervision.
Perform operator checklist as required and comply with all EH&S procedures.
As required segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.
