Overview

This is a remote / hybrid contract, part-time video editor role with TechHut Media. The position offers 1-2 videos per week with opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation for exceptional performers. You will work with the founder to produce engaging content for a tech‑savvy audience.

About the Role

We\'re seeking a talented video editor to join our small but growing team. This remote / hybrid contract position offers 1-2 videos per week with opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation for exceptional performers. You\'ll work directly with our founder to produce engaging content that educates and inspires our tech-savy audience.

Compensation : Starting compensation is a negotiable flat rate per video. As you prove your value over the first few projects, we\'re prepared to offer hourly rates and potentially transition exceptional contractors to W2 employee status.

Critical Requirement

You must be highly skilled and proficient in DaVinci Resolve Studio AND own your own Studio license. This is non-negotiable.

What You\'ll Do

  • Edit and color grade video content using DaVinci Resolve Studio
  • Create motion graphics and visual effects to enhance storytelling
  • Collaborate on video concepts and creative direction
  • Maintain consistency with TechHut\'s brand and style
  • Meet project deadlines while maintaining high quality standards

    • Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve Studio (must own license)
  • Demonstrated video editing, color grading, and motion graphics skills
  • Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of current video trends and YouTube best practices

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Linux and general technology concepts
  • Experience researching technical topics and translating them for general audiences
  • Script writing and shot planning capabilities
  • Understanding of OBS Studio and screen recording workflows
  • Ability to simplify technical documentation into accessible content
  • Basic videography and camera operation skills
  • Experience with YouTube content creation

    • Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of Linux distributions, open-source software, ARM SBCs, Docker, or networking
  • Graphic design experience (Canva or GIMP preferred)
  • Comfortable appearing on camera
  • Understanding of digital marketing and business practices
  • Relevant degree or certifications in digital media
  • Located within driving distance of Vancouver, WA

  • Availability and expected start date
  • After initial projects, strong performers will have opportunities to negotiate increased pay and expanded responsibilities. All contractors will need to complete a W-9 form through our monthly payroll provider.
