Summary / Purpose :
Under the supervision of the LPN Program Director at Goodwin University, the Academic Advisor is r esponsible for the academic advisement of students in the LPN Program.
This includes involvement of the course selection process, enrollment process, oversight of required course completion for the LPN Certificate, management of the plan of study and knowledge of academic polices that will enhance the student success experience.
We are looking for full-time candidates for our Bridgeport, CT location. The candidate would be a Goodwin employee expected to work in Bridgeport, CT .
Essential Job Functions / Primary Responsibilities :

- Reviews applicant files and transcripts for completion of pre-requisite courses, if applicable.
- Scores applicant files for acceptance into program.
- Assesses the files of accepted students to identify courses which have been completed and / or are needed for the certificate, if applicable.
- Meets with students to communicate the results of the degree audit.
- Completes all necessary student academic forms required by the Registrar.
- Speaks with students at Nursing Orientation and during the first week of a new semester about academic advisement, plan of studies and the registration process.
- Audits student files to assure all courses have been completed for the LPN Certificate.
- Updates the plan of study every semester and notifies students of outstanding courses.
- Counsels all students regarding Add / Withdrawal and completes the necessary paperwork.
- Reaches out to students at key times in the semester about registration.
- Collaborates with nursing faculty to provide academic support and services to students when requested.
- Works with the Registrar and the Admissions Enrollment team to assess coursework.
- Works closely with faculty, program directors, students, other health science advisors, admission officers and financial aid on a daily basis to exchange information regarding progression, admission, or management of student issues.
- Assists students with advisement, registration, and academic information about future nursing educational goals / programs at Goodwin.
- Manages student data protected by FERPA
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience :
Master’s Degree preferred with an Academic Advisement background.
