UrgentVet is seeking an experienced Area Practice Manager to lead our practice teams in the Boston, MA area. This is not your normal Practice Manager role! This position will support a group of UrgentVet hospitals in our region alongside our current Practice Managers.

An Area Practice Manager role is a great opportunity for a current Practice Manager that is looking for that next step in their career to continue to develop and grow professionally without extensive or overnight travel.

You will work collaboratively to help us in our mission to quickly help pets feel better!

Our single doctor practices offer care for common urgent cases, including wound management, ear infections, vomiting / diarrhea, and euthanasia, and each of our paperless clinics is specially designed to deliver efficient care and equipped with cloud-based EMR, digital x-ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in-house lab equipment.

About the Position :

The Area Practice Manager is pivotal in the hospital team, overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure efficient after-hours acute care delivery while fostering a positive work culture across multiple hospitals.

This role is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Veterinary Practice Manager eager to advance their career and contribute to delivering exceptional veterinary care while providing variety and challenge to your typical day-to-day.

As an Area Practice Manager, your mission is to support the hospitals in the local area, helping to lead the teams and oversee hospitals in harmony with the UrgentVet ethos, actively cultivating culture, engagement, efficiency, growth, and financial stability.

Preferred applicants have experience in veterinary medicine, people management, and be comfortable working alongside veterinarians.

Position Details

  • Patient Advocacy : Be the advocate for patients and uphold a "Pet-First, Client-First" philosophy. Ensure a compassionate and client-centric approach to pet care.
  • Community Engagement and Brand Ambassadorship : Nurture collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with referring veterinarians and local businesses, positioning UrgentVet as the foremost choice for urgent pet care.

Serve as a prominent brand ambassador for UrgentVet within the local community.

  • Operational Excellence and Growth : Ensure patient care standards are met and provide the best urgent care medicine to the community while analyzing data and metrics for potential improvement and growth.
  • People Management : Support and develop multiple hospital teams and managers in their careers as they continue to serve pets.

Navigate and proactively resolve conflict and de-escalate.

Inclusive Workplace Culture : Foster a safe and inclusive work environment where diversity is celebrated, and every team member feels valued.

A dditional Details

  • Reports to the Regional Director of Operations, UrgentVet
  • Daily travel in local region to various UrgentVet hospitals, schedule of which hospitals to support can vary weekly and daily
  • Typically scheduled 40-45 hours / week and, because of the nature of the veterinary profession, longer hours are likely from time to time
  • Work schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays (NO OVERNIGHTS). Work hours are 3-11pm on weekdays and 10am-8pm on weekends.
